I've been a libero for my whole volleyball career.Now I am a senior returning to varsity, but that is not guaranteed I will be on the team.I've noticed, especially last year, my serve receives have gotten worse from previous years.My feet wo not move.What can l do to improve serve receive as well as basic passing?Also how can l improve my reaction time?

You should alwys move feet, while waitingt o see direction of the ball start shuffling feet from side to side, this will keep you from becoming flat footed.

get it in your head that the ball IS coming to you.

it IS coming straight for you.
this will help you to always be ready.

Do as HANNAH! says and then visualize you moving to the ball and passing it directly to the target. It is scary when you decide that is what is going to happen and it does. But it also works.

The other thing is just to have people serve to you. Over and over again. And just you on the court. If you do not move your feet when you are the only one on the court, it will be a very short and boring drill with you shagging all of the missed shots.

Whenever u start playing worse than before or if you're in some kind of slump, u may be doing something wrong. It would be great if u can assess yourself, identify the error, & fix it. Otherwise, just go back to basics & see if you're using all the proper posture, forms, & techniques.
If you're having problems with passing, there can be many causes such as poor eye-hand coodination, improper posture, bad contact point, uneven passing arms platform or even poor eye vision.
If reaction time is ur issue, below r some tips:
1) When you're waiting for the serve, stand on ur forefeet & lean slightly foreward.
2) Keep ur arms up & out infront of you.
3) Focus & keep ur eyes locked on the ball when the server is holding the ball to serve it up & do not lose it.
4) Perform PLYOMETRIC training regularly. It is the best way to improve ur feet speed & agility.

The only thing that l can say is pRactice..when your in the game,when your opponent is server is ready to serve, always think that he will target you, when the ball is in the air, move your feet and move to the direction where the ball will fall, control the power of your dig so you can get it easy and the setter can set it perfectly to the spiker..always remember to control your dig, good luck!!!!

What l do is to move immediately once the opponent is hand moves. The direction of the opponent is hitting shoulder dictates the direction where the ball is going to most of the time. It does not work all the time but, at least, you will know for sure where the general area where the ball will land. It simply takes practice.

As crazy as it may seem, standing on one leg to pass actually helps. If you filmed yourself pass 100 balls, a higher percentage would go right where you want them to when you were on one foot. Also, the simple rules of keeping arms straight and not being on your heel(s)
