whenever l go up to bat l get really nervous and end up messing up. l play catcher usually and im always worried that ill screw something up and ill be all embarrassed. last year l broke my fingers twice so im afraid that ill do it again if l try to dig a ball up out of the dirt or something... what should l do??

Chat with your teammates while your in the dug out, have some fun and laugh which often calms you down. Make some jokes and practice on your free time. If you mess up, just laugh it out and forget about it. One difficulty even pro players have is, having the ability to be able to forget about the mistake they just made and quickly move on with the next one. Remember, you learn from your mistakes, that is why they exist. Good luck with your next game!

Brethe. Having butterflies is perfectly normal. l have been playing for a while and the best thing you can do is go to the batting cages and practice a bit.

Try to keep your mind off of the negative things and think positive. It also helps to talk with your teammates int eh dugout. Also, for some people it helps if you chew gum or spit seeds while you are in the dugout.

Ok when you become nervous you scare your self l was like that to l was Always trying to play my best but l did not want to screw up l broke my finger in 3 spots one season. Do not worry about it everyone screws up it not that big of a deal. Have more confidence

Try picking out a game song, or a few game songs to get you pumped before you step out on the field. Have confidence in yourself. the game song really works for me. It gets my blood pumpin, and gets me in game mode. Do not be afraid of the ball since you got hurt. l am a pitcher and but rarely get nailed. But when l do, its hard to go back out cause the image if you gettin hit in back in your head, but you just gotta conquer it.

Almost our whole team last year had that same problem. We were all pretty inexperienced & it can be intimidating. We invented our own thing (kinda lame, but.seriously helps) where we'd just shake it off, literally, before going onto the field to bat, & when u reach the batter is box take a deep breath. Watch the ball the moment it leaves the pitchers hand, make a quick decision to swing or not, & if u swing swing hard. It is better to strike out swinging than standing still, at least u tried then. Even major league players strike out, do not worry about it. Just have fun.

As for catcher, just make sure u focus everytime the pitch is thrown. Are u using a catchers mit? They have more padding to keep u from getting hurt. If you're younger & can not use one of those try putting a batting glove on ur mit hand.

Do not worry. If you make a mistake just shake it off. l mean every one is human we all make mistakes. And do not worry about breaking a finger l have broke both of my pinky fingers lol. kinda weird. but l just go out there not worried and play my hardest and if the coach yells at you for messing up, all there doing is talking loud. Just shake it off and say ill get it the next time coach.
