Outside Hitter - Hits on the left side. Usually called the ''4'' ball. This hitter usually gets the most sets. Blocks on the left side & sometimes in the middle.

Middle Blocker - Plays in the middle, hits in the middle. Usually hits a ''quick'' or ''1'' set which means the Middle Blocker is in the air before the setter touches the ball, & the setter lightly taps the ball for the Middle to hit. Helps block in the left, middle, & right side.

Opposite - Hits on the right side, usually called the ''5'' ball. This side probably wo not get as many sets as the outside htiter, but is still a very important position. Blocks on the right side & middle.

Setter- Sets the ball for the hitters. When back row they play Right Back, & after the ball is passed he/she moves from that position to the ball to make the set. When front row the setter usually blocks on the right side, & sometimes helping in the middle.

Middle Back - This is usually the outside hitter is backrow. The middle backs job is to get every ball that is deep. Hitting from this position is usually called the ''Pipe''.

Left Back - Usually where the libero plays on defence (Or middle blocker if they r in). Their job is to cover the block when the outside hitter is hitting & to get everything short on their side & the middle. Hitting from this position is called
''A''.

Libero - Usually subs in for the Middle Blocker when going back row. Libero only plays back row & wears a different colored jersey than the rest of the team. The libero can sub in without confirming it with the refs.

outside hitters- block, hit, and if you are running a 6-2 then the right side is the backup setter
liberos- middle back, do not play front row, don't, serve, to play this position you have to be really quick
setters- set, pass only if ball comes to them while their in base one, get second hit
